Bridal FAQ
These are a few questions that are asked most often at our boutique.
What is your bridal appointment process?
You should start shopping for your dress approximately nine months before your wedding. We prefer that brides make an appointment so that we can have a sales consultant available to assist you. Our appointments typically last about 1.5 hours. We invite you to bring friends/family along for their opinions. To make an appointment, you may call or e-mail us with a date and time that you want to come.
How do I choose my bridesmaids’ dresses?
It takes about three to four months to get bridesmaids’ dresses from the designers. In addition, it can take two months for alterations on the dresses.
While shopping for your bridesmaids’ dresses, keep in mind your bridesmaids’ body shapes. Finding a dress that looks great on everyone equals happy bridesmaids! Also, think about your color schemes and wedding location. Not all dresses come in every color, so always ask to see color swatches of the dresses that you like.
What is the ordering timeframe for my wedding party’s attire?
Wedding gowns: 6-9 months total
Bridesmaid dresses: 5-6 months total
Tuxes: Have all men measured at least six weeks before the wedding date.
Mothers’ dresses: 3-4 months
Flower girl dresses: 3-4 months
Veils/Headpieces: 2-3 months
Shoes: 1 month (but keep in mind that you need your shoes for alterations)
What should I do about my out-of-town bridesmaids and groomsmen?
Have your out-of-towner call us and we can explain which exact measurements we require. They may then go to a store, tailor, or seamstress to be measured. Most department stores or bridal boutiques will measure them at little or no cost. After they are measured, have them call us with the measurements and payment.
When should I start my alterations?
In order to start alterations, you must have the shoes and undergarments (bra, Spanx, etc.) that you are wearing on the wedding day.
For wedding gowns, we recommend you start alterations three months before the wedding. For bridesmaids, mothers, and flower girls; they should start about two months before the wedding. We have an amazing seamstress that comes to our boutique. The seamstress schedule is as follows:
Thursday: 3pm-8pm
Saturday: 10am-6pm
Sunday: 12pm-5pm
(Alternating Saturdays and Sundays)
During busy times, our seamstress makes herself more available to our customers so we may have more days she is available.
To schedule an appointment with a seamstress, please give us a call.
What happens after I order my dress?
After you are measured and make payment, we order your dress that day or the next. While waiting for your dress to come in, pick out bridesmaid dresses, tuxes, and your accessories. When your dress arrives to our boutique, we unpack and inspect it. We inspect the dresses for any flaws that the factory where the dress was made may have overlooked. If the dress looks great, we steam it and call you to let you know that the dress is in.
If there is a problem, we send the dress back to the designer. The designer will immediately either fix the problem or replace the dress. Don’t worry, we have NEVER had a dress not make it in time for the wedding!
